About the position

Help support fearless journalism by connecting HR to the heart of our newsroom. We’re looking for a Departmental HR Partner to serve as the main point of HR contact for our Editorial team. If you’re passionate about human connection, coordination, and making a meaningful impact in a mission-driven newsroom, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Represent HR in weekly editorial meetings (Mondays at 11:00 AM ET)
  • Help identify and relay HR needs such as recruitment, onboarding, or team concerns
  • Collaborate with the central HR team to fill open roles and support volunteer success
  • Support a positive, inclusive, and organized environment within the editorial department
  • Coordinate with the HR Coordinator to assist with onboarding and general follow-up

Requirements

  • Some HR experience or interest in learning (students and career changers welcome!)
  • Strong communication and note-taking skills
  • Comfortable joining department meetings and voicing HR-related needs
  • Collaborative and responsive, especially in a remote setting
  • Passionate about nonprofit work and investigative journalism
