About the position

The Department of Economics invites applications for a tenure-track position beginning Fall 2025. The preferred candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Economics, although candidates with an ABD status or those at the Associate Professor level may also be considered. The successful candidate should have research and teaching interests that include topics in financial economics. They will be expected to teach at least one advanced course that emphasizes analytical and/or empirical tools in financial economics, such as Corporate Finance, Financial and Managerial Accounting, Asset Pricing, Mechanism Design, or Financial Econometrics. Ideally, the candidate will have two such courses in their teaching portfolio, in addition to Introduction to Economics and a senior research seminar in their specific interest areas. The teaching load is five courses (or equivalent) over two semesters, with one course periodically being a Tutorial, which is a topical writing/critical thinking course for first-year students, the only College-wide requirement beyond the completion of a major in an individually-advised curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Teach five courses (or equivalent) over two semesters.
  • Prepare and teach at least one advanced course in financial economics.
  • Develop and teach Introduction to Economics and a senior research seminar.
  • Occasionally teach a Tutorial course for first-year students.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Economics preferred; ABD or Associate Professor candidates considered.
  • Research and teaching interests in financial economics.
  • Ability to teach advanced courses in financial economics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching Corporate Finance, Financial and Managerial Accounting, Asset Pricing, Mechanism Design, or Financial Econometrics.
  • Demonstrated interest in developing as a teacher and scholar in a liberal arts college.
