Dentist (Open Continuous)

About the position

The position is for a Dental Officer in the Federal service, specifically under the Dental Officer Series 0680. Applicants must provide a resume that clearly states their experience and/or education relevant to the duties of the position. This includes both paid and unpaid experiences, such as volunteer work through National Service programs. Candidates must identify their duties and responsibilities in previous positions and the total hours worked per week. A positive education requirement is in place, necessitating the submission of transcripts or a detailed education history, including degrees and majors. Official transcripts will be required after tentative selection and before an official job offer is made.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area.
• Perform dental procedures such as removing decay, filling cavities, straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth.
• Treat gum diseases and perform corrective surgery.
• Make measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth.
• Administer anesthetics and write prescriptions.

Requirements

• Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from an accredited institution.
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a U.S. state or territory.
• Passed the National Board of Dental Surgery (NBDE).
• Ability to distinguish shades of color.

Nice-to-haves

• Completion of a 2-year residency program in dentistry or related field.
• At least 2 years of equivalent experience at the GS-11 level.
