The position is for a Dental Officer in the Federal service, specifically under the Dental Officer Series 0680. There is a provision for applicants who are nearing completion of their professional training program, allowing them to be tentatively qualified if they can provide documentation supporting their expected completion within nine months of applying. Additionally, applicants must have passed the National Board of Dental Surgery (NBDE) and possess a current, unrestricted license to practice dentistry. Experience qualifying for the GS-11 grade level involves evaluating, preventing, diagnosing, and treating diseases and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area. Time-in-grade requirements apply for federal employees in the competitive service, requiring one year of service at the next lower grade level.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area.
- Perform dental procedures such as removing decay, filling cavities, and treating gum diseases.
- Administer anesthetics and write prescriptions as necessary.
- Make measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth.
- Perform corrective surgery and other dental treatments.
Requirements
