This position involves fabricating and repairing dental prostheses and appliances such as dentures, partials, crown and bridge, inlay/onlay, veneers, and implant restorations. The Dental Technician Trainee will read prescriptions, construct prostheses according to doctors' written orders, and communicate effectively with colleagues and managers. The role requires the use of a wide range of materials, including precious and non-precious metals, porcelain, composite, acrylic, and more. Responsibilities include replacing natural teeth with dentures, correcting dental irregularities with appliances, creating models from dental impressions, building wax replicas, encasing wax in mold material and replacing it with plastic, metal, or ceramic, applying porcelain layers for ceramic restorations, polishing and finishing appliances, and applying stains and glazes for a natural look. The technician will utilize various techniques such as plaster casting, metal casting, die trimming, metal polishing, wax modeling, wire bending, sandblasting, electroplating, electro-spot welding, and CAD/CAM. The role also involves using hand tools and equipment like electric drills, presses, lathes, high-heat furnaces, sandblasters, paint brushes, and carvers. Documentation of actions through forms, logs, and reports is required, as is close collaboration with quality control specialists to address quality standards and report problem cases. Preparation of equipment and materials is also part of the duties. The position relies on technical knowledge for decision-making and achieving departmental goals, with additional duties assigned as needed.
