About the position
The Dental Lab Technician Trainee position at National Dentex involves working in a dental lab environment to assist in the creation and finishing of dental prosthetics. The role is designed for individuals looking to start their career in dental technology, providing hands-on training in various lab processes including model creation, custom tray fabrication, denture setup, and finishing techniques. Responsibilities
- Create models from denture impressions using dental stone and a vibrator to eliminate bubbles.
- Place models in an articulator to represent the jaw and attach teeth with wax.
- Shape and carve wax models to resemble gums for finished dentures.
- Fabricate custom impression trays and wax bite rims, ensuring proper contouring for lip support and occlusal positions.
- Set up teeth in the desired occlusal scheme, adding wax for gingival contours and facial muscle support.
- Flask dentures in a holding device, pour plaster, and boil out wax to maintain shape.
- Inject acrylic into the plaster mold after removing wax and applying a liquid separator.
- Trim and polish dentures, ensuring a natural appearance and proper articulation.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Demonstrated relevant employment may be considered in lieu of education.
- Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English.
