About the position

The Insurance Coordinator plays a vital role in managing insurance processes within a dental office, ensuring accurate verification and compliance with healthcare regulations. This position is essential for facilitating smooth operations and providing exceptional service to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform insurance verification for patients prior to appointments, ensuring all necessary information is collected and processed accurately.
  • Maintain and organize medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with dental staff to ensure proper coding of procedures using ICD-10 and ICD-9 standards.
  • Assist in managed care processes, including pre-authorizations and referrals as needed.
  • Conduct regular audits of medical coding practices to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Address any discrepancies or issues related to insurance claims promptly and efficiently.
  • Provide support in the management of patient accounts, including billing inquiries and payment processing.
  • Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, coding practices, and healthcare regulations.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a dental office or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical records management and insurance verification processes.
  • Familiarity with managed care systems and coding (ICD-10, ICD-9).
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Proficient in office software applications; experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and staff.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
