About The Position

The Dental Assistant assists in the delivery of dental services to the participants of the InnovAge PACE programs. This role involves patient management, including preparing patients for procedures, assisting dentists during treatments, and providing post-treatment instructions. It also includes managing the dental treatment room, ensuring cleanliness and proper functioning of equipment, maintaining inventory, and coordinating with dental laboratories. InnovAge is dedicated to empowering seniors to live independently, allowing them to age in their own homes and communities safely. InnovAge offers an alternative to nursing homes through its Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), which provides enrolled seniors with customized healthcare and social support at PACE Adult Day Health Centers. Requirements

  • 1+ year as a Dental Assistant
  • A minimum of one year working with the frail or elderly is required (work, volunteer or family)
  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Gathers and reviews participant’s charts for the day.
  • Escorts participants into treatment rooms, ensuring safety and comfort, and explains treatment.
  • Performs necessary radiographic procedures and provides results to Dentist.
  • Assists in dental services by handing dental instruments and materials to the Dentist.
  • Checks with participants throughout procedures to help alleviate their anxiety.
  • Upon completion, escorts out and provides post-treatment instructions and materials.
  • Documents records with procedures performed and adds any notes taken to chart.
  • Manages treatment room for cleanliness, verifying equipment is in good working order, including gathering soiled instruments for presoak before sterilizer or ultrasonic cleaner tank.
  • Pours and trims any laboratory models.
  • Maintains a supply inventory for treatment rooms and laboratory and submits supply orders to Center Director as necessary.
  • Ensures that dental laboratory is contacted appropriately for cases to be sent out and ensures delivery of completed laboratory work.
  • Checks participant charts and laboratory work at the end of the day and makes any notes or notifications to participant charts.
