About the position

North Shore Community Health (NSCH) is seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team at the Peabody Family Health Center. This full-time position reports to the Dental Operations Manager and involves working chairside in our dental clinics under the guidance of dental providers. The Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in assisting with the delivery of dental services, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care in a supportive environment. As a Dental Assistant at NSCH, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall patient experience. This includes preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and assisting dentists during procedures. You will also be expected to communicate effectively with patients, providing them with information about their treatment plans and addressing any concerns they may have. Your role will involve not only technical skills but also a strong emphasis on customer service and patient interaction. In addition to chairside duties, the Dental Assistant will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless communication within the care team. This position requires a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment, adhering to OSHA regulations, and following NSCH's confidentiality policies. Responsibilities

  • Assist dental providers chairside during procedures.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments.
  • Communicate with patients about their treatment plans and address concerns.
  • Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals and community organizations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and communications.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and NSCH confidentiality policies.
  • Support patient access to community resources and services.
  • Engage with patients in various settings, including their homes and hospitals.
  • Perform nursing interventions as needed, including administering immunizations and medications.
  • Participate in team huddles and manage clinically related phone calls.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Dental Assistant and Radiology Certificates are required.
  • Minimum of three years' experience as a dental assistant.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/Portuguese and English is a plus.
  • Good working knowledge of dental equipment and terminology, OSHA, and safety compliance.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced dental environment.
  • Superior customer service skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, professional, and able to multi-task.
  • Good working knowledge of EPIC/WISDOM software.
  • Ability to maintain strict adherence to NSCH Confidentiality policy.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
