About the position

We are a new General Dental practice located in the Bayside Queens area, and we are looking to hire a Dental Assistant/Receptionist immediately. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing front desk tasks while assisting the dentist with patient treatments. This position is essential for ensuring a positive experience for our patients, and it requires a friendly and professional demeanor. The role involves a combination of administrative and clinical duties, making it a dynamic position within our practice. As a Dental Assistant/Receptionist, you will be responsible for greeting and assisting patients, scheduling appointments, and managing the appointment calendar. You will also be required to answer phone calls, emails, and inquiries promptly, which may involve working from home as well as in the office. Communication of benefits to patients, processing payments, and mailing out documents are also part of your responsibilities. Maintaining patient records and updating information as necessary is crucial for efficient operations. You will coordinate with other dental staff to ensure a smooth patient flow and keep the office clean and organized, which includes tasks such as mopping, sweeping, and taking out the trash. In addition to administrative tasks, you will assist in clinical duties such as setting up rooms for patient appointments, sterilizing instruments, and assisting during procedures by handing instruments to the dentist and suctioning saliva or blood. Taking x-rays and photos as required, keeping inventory, and presenting treatment fees to patients are also part of your role. This position is ideal for someone who is eager to learn and grow in the dental field, as we will provide on-the-job training and support.

Requirements

  • No previous experience in a dental office or medical setting required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision
  • Must have open availability
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Must enjoy working with children
  • Secure form of transportation is required
  • College students' schedules cannot interfere with the office schedule needs
