About the position
The Dental Assistant at Variety Care plays a crucial role in supporting dentists in providing high-quality dental care to patients. This entry-level position involves preparing patients for treatment, managing dental instruments, and ensuring a clean and safe environment. The role requires flexibility to work at various locations and a commitment to patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for dental treatment and review treatment plans.
- Arrange chairside dental instruments and materials for procedures.
- Perform Four-Handed Dentistry in coordination with the Dentists.
- Sterilize and clean dental instruments.
- Take appropriate digital X-Rays.
- Maintain dental and office equipment.
- Keep the operatory and lab neat and aseptic at all times.
- Perform expanded functions if certification allows, such as coronal polishing and sealants.
- Call patients into the dental clinic from the waiting area.
- Support Variety Care's accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home.
- Work collaboratively with staff to achieve healthcare reform goals.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to obtain a Dental Assistant permit from the Board of Dentistry within 30 days of employment.
- Basic organizational skills.
- Experience handling confidential information.
- Experience in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.
Nice-to-haves
- At least 1 expanded function/certificate in Radiation Safety and Protection, Coronal Polishing, Nitrous Oxide Application, or Sealant Application.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
