About the position

Gardner Health Services is currently recruiting to fill a Denial Management Coordinator position. This is a full-time position in Gardner's Medical Billing Department located at the Alviso Health Center at 1621 Gold St. Alviso, CA 95002. The Denial Management Coordinator processes Medical, Dental, Optometry, ECM, BH, OB, Family Planning, Podiatry, and Pediatric encounters throughout the day and performs financial audits by verifying charges, payments, discounts and balances, and prepares batches for input into appropriate funding sources. The position collects and analyzes denial, and write off data along with all electronic (ERA) posting to ensure payment balancing procedures are adhered to. Additionally, the position processes denials, trains staff on cash receipts, and unapplied credits. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, highly organized and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Process Medical, Dental, Optometry, ECM, BH, OB, Family Planning, Podiatry, and Pediatric encounters.
  • Perform financial audits by verifying charges, payments, discounts, and balances.
  • Prepare batches for input into appropriate funding sources.
  • Collect and analyze denial and write-off data along with electronic (ERA) posting.
  • Ensure payment balancing procedures are adhered to.
  • Process denials and train staff on cash receipts and unapplied credits.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School diploma.
  • Two plus (2+) years' of related experience in medical insurance billing.
  • Experience with data entry and ten-key calculator by touch.
  • Ability to work well independently and on a team.
  • Experience and knowledge of medical billing/coding (ICD-10) and electronic medical records systems.
  • Community or Public Health clinic billing experience, highly desirable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
