About the position
The Delivery Specialist is responsible for operating store vehicles to deliver parts and products to professional customers safely and efficiently. This role includes collecting payments on C.O.D. deliveries, picking up customer returns, and ensuring the security and maintenance of delivery vehicles. The position also involves various customer service tasks and supporting store operations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles to deliver parts and products to customers safely and efficiently.
- Use delivery fleet management hand-held devices to process deliveries and capture customer signatures.
- Maintain cleanliness and perform daily inspections of delivery vehicles.
- Secure delivery vehicles, keys, fuel/fleet credit cards, hand-held devices, and collected money at all times.
- Pick up customer returns and fill out driver return slips.
- Communicate customer issues or special needs to store management.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs, accidents, or damage to the store manager immediately.
- Ensure fuel tank is filled and lock the vehicle at the end of the day.
- Clock in/out according to company policy.
- Assist with customer service, stocking, merchandising, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to quickly match alphanumeric sequences.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing delivery situations.
- Driving record must meet the company's 14/18-point record system.
- Must possess a legally required state driver's license and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with automotive parts.
- Ability to operate other light store equipment.
- Fluency in multiple languages, especially Spanish.
