About the position

The position involves assisting the Yacht Captain in various responsibilities related to the maintenance and operation of the yacht. The role includes helping with the set-up and break-down for yacht cruises, ensuring that all aspects of the yacht are well-maintained and operational. The individual will be expected to learn the names of regular guests and members, maintain yacht equipment, assist with daily cleaning needs, and provide excellent customer service by answering questions about services and local attractions.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the names and personally recognize our regular Guests and Members
  • Maintain Yacht equipment in proper working order
  • Assist Yacht Captain with daily cleaning needs
  • Record and bill orders accurately into the register system and process payments using guest/member cards in accordance with accounting procedures
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area to answer any questions guests may have to the best of one's ability
  • Complete a Guest Problem Resolutions (GPR) form on any issues and follow-up on issues as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas
  • Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing
  • Ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures
  • Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
  • Execute other duties as delegated by leadership

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-year experience on boats
  • High School Diploma or equivalent credentials
  • Ability to take and follow directions
  • Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Proficient in Windows XP and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Proficient with peripherals, copier, fax, telephone, and calculator
  • Minimum typing skill of 20+ wpm
  • Ability to courteously present information to people in one-on-one and group situations
  • Detail oriented and able to manage competing priorities and multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to adapt to organizational and environmental changes
  • Flexible to working early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and in compliance with company Dress Code Policy

Nice-to-haves

  • College degree preferred
  • Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification
