About the position

As a Datacenter Hardware Replacement Technician, you will play a critical role in the material upkeep and swapping in our Datacenter environment. Your main responsibilities would be swapping out of SSDs, Fiber Optics & DIMMs in a Datacenter environment. You'll perform optical testing, physical hardware swaps, logical and physical audits of the whole system. This position is a contracted role expected to last 90 days where you will be swapping roughly 250 various components per day.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct logical and physical audits of the equipment in a data center environment.
  • Basic asset management of required parts and materials to ensure all replacements can be made.
  • Optical testing of fiber cables using various tools, including VFL, OTDR, among others.
  • Dressing, cable / uncable, of both fiber and copper cabling.
  • Bulk storage media removal of components, including proper disposal.
  • Physical hardware swaps of new components.
  • Track work through various tool and ticketing systems as required.
  • Complete optical transceiver swaps.
  • Keep impeccable records of all swaps.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years working within datacenters, replacing components, running cables, and completing logical and physical audits.
  • Understanding of network procedures, environmental and safety management in a Datacenter environment.
  • Understanding of ESD best practices.
  • Good organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of how to complete Optical transceiver swaps.
  • Ability to stay focused while completing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift around 50 pounds and manipulate it within tight spaces.
