About the position

Onco360 is seeking a Database Administrator I to join our IT Team at our Houston, TX pharmacy location. This role involves assisting in the maintenance, management, and optimization of database systems to ensure high performance, availability, and security. The position offers an excellent opportunity for learning and growth in the field of database administration and analysis, with a focus on supporting the unique needs of oncology and hematology patients and providers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and upgrading of database server software and related products.
  • Monitor database systems to ensure availability and performance.
  • Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Support the development of data models and database designs.
  • Create and maintain documentation for databases and reports.
  • Monitor and enforce database access controls.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations regarding data privacy and security.
  • Assist in the development and execution of disaster recovery plans.
  • Provide support for database-related issues and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
  • Stay updated with the latest database technologies and industry best practices.
  • Propose and implement improvements to database systems and processes.
  • Eagerly perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in database administration, database analysis, or a related role. Internships or relevant coursework may be considered.
  • Basic understanding of database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
  • Proficiency in SQL and database query languages.
  • Familiarity with data modeling and database design concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SSIS Package, Azure Data Studio.
  • Knowledge of scheduling and monitoring SQL Jobs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service.
  • Knowledge of PowerBI.
  • Experience in Backup and Restore activity for databases.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and tools (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift).
  • Familiarity with TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go programming languages.
  • Experience with Open-Source Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and NoSQL databases.
  • Microsoft Certified: Database Administrator Associate or Data Analyst Associate or Azure Data Engineer Associate.
