About the position

The Data Scientist position at Leidos involves supporting a dynamic data science team focused on projects essential to National Security. The role requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance and is situated in a classified environment. The Data Scientist will engage in building statistical models, conducting research on diverse data sources, and utilizing machine learning and automation to derive insights and recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Build statistical models and test hypotheses.
  • Interpret, summarize, visualize, and report on data findings.
  • Perform research on various data sources, including unstructured data.
  • Construct and execute complex database search queries using SQL and API interfaces.
  • Perform web scraping and process unstructured data.
  • Leverage automation and machine learning for data management and scenario prediction.
  • Contribute to the development of new analytical tools and packages.
  • Collaborate with team members in a highly technical environment.
  • Learn and utilize emerging technologies such as AWS and Git.

Requirements

  • Experience with AI/ML.
  • Typically requires a BS degree and 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or a Master's with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience; a Doctorate in a technical domain may also be considered.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
  • Strong experience with Python.
  • Experience with data manipulation, analytic/business insight tools, and data visualization.
  • Experience with SciPy stack or Tidyverse packages.
  • Experience constructing and performing complex database search queries.
  • Knowledge of computer science concepts, data architecture, and statistics.
  • Demonstrated experience using statistical and machine learning techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning and natural language processing.
  • Familiarity with frequentist statistics and probability, including predictive modeling.
  • Experience visualizing data using popular packages such as Tableau, ggplot, or Matplotlib.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences.
