About the position

The Data Science Manager at Home Depot is responsible for leading a team of data scientists to enhance business profitability, efficiency, and customer experience. This role involves mentoring team members, managing projects, and collaborating with various stakeholders to leverage data science solutions effectively. The manager will also provide executive summaries and align strategies with other data science managers across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching to Data Scientists and evaluate their performance.
  • Attract, retain, and develop top talent to build a high-performing team.
  • Support team development in business knowledge and technical skills with clear plans and assessments.
  • Manage resources effectively to align with strategic initiatives and business needs.
  • Prioritize and assign projects based on various factors like funding and return on investment.
  • Collaborate with program managers and business partners to align on objectives and expectations.
  • Leverage business knowledge to seek out new opportunities for data science applications.
  • Ensure alignment with IT support models and collaboration tools for effective execution.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of data science and analytics by developing replicable solutions.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of experience in business intelligence and analytics.
  • Expertise in predictive modeling, data mining, and data analysis.
  • Proficient in SQL and data visualization software, preferably Tableau.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in prescriptive modeling techniques such as optimization and NLP.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
