About the position

The Data Science Engineer role at Disney focuses on supporting the Advertising Sales organization by leveraging data science and analytics to optimize audience segmentation and model performance. The position involves integrating complex datasets, creating audience classification models, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align data products with business goals. The ideal candidate will drive improvements across Disney's offerings using data-driven strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop data processing pipelines, stitching together streaming, advertising, and other feeds at the terabyte scale
• Collaborate on the transformation of existing ML code into portable and automated services
• Expand skills in data governance and DevOps best practices by supporting ongoing team efforts to integrate data catalogues, data lineage, and CI/CD solutions into day-to-day operations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of related work experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
• Strong SQL skills, preference to processing large datasets in BigQuery and Snowflake
• Good Python skills, including a demonstrated ability to read and understand code
• Experience collaborating on team projects in Git and GitHub
• Detail-oriented with a passion for organization and elegance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in data process orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow)
• Experience in infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform)
• Containerized development patterns (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
• Other cloud computing experience (e.g. GCP, AWS)
