About The Position

The Data Product Owner serves as the strategic leader and accountable owner for a portfolio of data products within the Insurance domain. This role acts as the enterprise authority for the assigned data domain, ensuring alignment with business strategy, enterprise architecture, regulatory requirements, and modernization initiatives. The Data Product Owner bridges long-term strategy and Agile execution, enabling delivery teams to develop scalable, compliant, reusable, and high-quality data products that support operational processes, regulatory reporting, and advanced analytics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Data Product Ownership experience, including ownership of enterprise data products, roadmaps, and delivery outcomes.
  • Proven experience defining and executing data strategies within complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Expertise in data management, including data modeling, standardization, and harmonization practices.
  • Familiarity with modern data architectures, including cloud-native platforms, data lakehouse environments, and AI/ML enablement frameworks.
  • Experience developing product roadmaps, managing complex backlogs, defining epics and features, and tracking measurable outcomes.
  • Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Experience working within Agile product delivery environments supporting large-scale data ecosystems.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the multi-year data product strategy and roadmap for the assigned insurance data domain.
  • Translate enterprise objectives into domain priorities, measurable outcomes, and investment opportunities.
  • Identify and drive modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption, automation, AI enablement, and interoperability.
  • Champion data-as-a-product principles, including ownership, quality, discoverability, and reuse.
  • Align product roadmaps, priorities, and dependencies across business and technology teams.
  • Lead portfolio intake, discovery, prioritization, and scope management efforts.
  • Drive measurable business value, adoption, and ROI from data product investments.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Data Governance, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Advocate for modern data architectures, including cloud-native platforms and data lakehouse ecosystems.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and delivery teams.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting, Claims, Reinsurance, Finance, Actuarial, and IT teams to define and prioritize data solutions.
  • Ensure Agile teams have clearly defined epics, features, and acceptance criteria aligned with business outcomes.
  • Monitor KPIs, adoption metrics, and value realization while driving continuous improvement and standardization.
