About the position

The Data Developer Specialist is responsible for the development, testing, and documentation of complex data transformations and services to support strategic initiatives and ongoing business requirements for Trinity Health. This role involves optimizing production support while collaborating with the Product Engineering team to design, code, and test complex data transformations. The specialist will lead the data transformation solution life-cycle, mentor entry-level developers, and ensure adherence to established standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop complex ETL solutions for interfacing, data replication, and bulk load transfers.
  • Utilize different data modeling methodologies including STAR, Snowflake, and 3NF.
  • Design, develop, and support ETL solutions for BI and Analytics applications.
  • Identify and tune poor performing SQL.
  • Provide production support for data transformation jobs and troubleshoot ETL performance issues.
  • Lead peer reviews of solution designs and related code reviews.
  • Mentor and assist in training entry Data Developers.
  • Work closely with the PMO to estimate level of effort for proposed projects.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for data transformation procedures.
  • Define, maintain, and improve standards and processes for ETL and related tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or information technology or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of seven years' experience in Information Technology, with five years as a Data Developer in a large data warehouse and business intelligence environment.
  • Five years' experience with data development technologies such as Informatica, Data Stage, or MS SSIS.
  • Five years' experience writing and tuning advanced SQL.
  • Expertise in different data modeling methodologies including STAR, Snowflake, and 3NF.
  • Strong proficiency in leading technical projects and assignments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare nomenclature.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience with Azure data services, including Azure Data Lake, SQL, and Data Factory.
  • Experience with parquet file formats and delta lakes.
  • Experience with practical applications of Python for data transformations and notebooks.
  • Familiarity with Medallion Architecture concepts like bronze, silver, and gold layers.
  • Knowledge of DevOps processes and version control fundamentals.
