About the position

As a Data Center Facility Manager at AWS, you will oversee all aspects of the data center’s critical physical infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance while maintaining service level agreements. You will manage on-site teams of 24x7 shift technicians, sub-contractors, and vendors, driving a culture of safety and compliance. Your role will involve hiring, coaching, and promoting team members, as well as managing the operations budget and engaging in improvement projects. You will act as an escalation point for facilities-related issues and oversee the operation and management of critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and more. This position requires a willingness to work in various physical conditions and may support multiple locations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the data center’s critical physical infrastructure.
  • Maintain high availability and performance while ensuring that all work performed within the site is done to high quality without impact to internal/external customers.
  • Manage on-site teams of 24x7 shift technicians, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Drive safety and security culture and compliance within the team.
  • Hire, coach, and promote team members; responsible for team's career development and performance management.
  • Promote healthy team culture and peak morale.
  • Effectively manage the operations budget and expenditures.
  • Engage in improvement projects, driving them from conception to completion.
  • Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues.
  • Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems.
  • Utilize root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
  • Respond to out-of-hours emergency calls.
  • Assist in the build-out of new facilities and projects to increase current facility efficiency.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and other basic administrative tools.

Requirements

  • Experience in managing critical infrastructure in a data center environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards.
  • Experience with budget management and operational efficiency.
  • Technical knowledge of critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, etc.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks as required by the job.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.
