Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of database architectures, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security.
• Collaborate with IT and business teams to set up advanced data infrastructure and accelerate the deployment of AI-driven models for material/process/product design.
• Develop and maintain data models, database schemas, and data integration workflows to support business needs.
• Ensure data integrity, quality, and security across all database systems.
• Optimize and manage database performance, including tuning queries and indexing strategies.
• Lead the migration of on-premises databases to cloud-based solutions, ensuring minimal disruption and data loss.
• Implement and manage data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans.
• Stay updated with the latest database technologies and best practices, and apply them to improve existing systems.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior database administrators and developers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or a master's degree (preferred) in computer science, data engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of related work experience after a bachelor's degree or 6 years after a master's degree.
• Expertise in database design, development, and administration, with a focus on MS SQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
• Experience with cloud database solutions, specifically Azure SQL Database, as the primary platform, with knowledge of Amazon RDS and Google Cloud SQL as a plus.
• Proficiency in data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration tools, with practical experience in Databricks or Fabriq, and Power BI.
• Strong understanding of database security, backup, and recovery best practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation for database deployments, with proficiency in Python and R for data preparation.
• Proficiency with infrastructure as code and cloud infrastructure management, with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
• Proven understanding of modern data architectures and concepts such as real-time data distribution and processing (Kafka, Flink), and modern data warehouse tools (Snowflake, Databricks).
• Industry experience in automotive and/or chemical data, with at least basic domain knowledge.
