About the position

Northwest Florida State College is seeking part-time adjunct instructors for the Dance program. As an adjunct instructor, you will be hired on an as-needed basis, term-by-term or per course, to provide instruction in various dance styles. This role requires you to deliver both online and classroom instruction, ensuring that you fulfill all contractual obligations during the term. You will conduct each class according to the approved syllabus and utilize the designated textbook and other instructional materials as approved by the college. Being fully prepared and punctual for each class is essential, as is the ability to effectively use the Learning Management System (LMS) in accordance with college policies and procedures. In this position, you will be responsible for submitting attendance confirmations and maintaining course grades in the LMS, ensuring that grades are submitted at the appropriate times. Engaging with students is a key part of the role; you will need to answer questions promptly and refer students for additional support when necessary. Familiarity with college policies is crucial, as is the ability to treat students and colleagues with respect and understanding of diverse backgrounds. Additionally, you may assist in the development of curriculum as appropriate and will be required to complete annual mandatory compliance training. Other duties may be assigned by the Department Chair as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Providing online/classroom instruction.
  • Fulfill contractual obligations during the term.
  • Conduct each class according to the approved syllabus.
  • Utilize the approved textbook and/or other instructional materials as approved.
  • Be fully prepared and on time.
  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) following college policies and procedures.
  • Submit attendance confirmation per college policies and procedures, as applicable to assignment.
  • Maintain course grades in the LMS and submit grades at the applicable times, as applicable to assignment.
  • Support students by engaging them in class, answering questions in a timely manner, and referring them for additional support when necessary.
  • Be familiar with and abide by college policies.
  • Treat students and colleagues with respect and understanding of differences.
  • Assisting in development of curriculum as appropriate.
  • Complete annual mandatory compliance training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master's degree in Dance, or a master's degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Dance required.
  • An earned doctorate in Dance or a related field with 18 graduate hours in Dance strongly preferred.
  • Emphasis on various dance styles strongly preferred.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated evidence of professional growth through participation in continuing education and other related activities.
  • Proficiency with teaching technologies, including lecture-capture software, such as Camtasia or Kaltura, and familiarity with web-conferencing software to facilitate synchronous online student support.
  • Experience in student engagement techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience with technology-based instruction preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

Benefits

  • Part-time pay rate of $2,031-$2,214 per class based on level of degree.
  • Pay rate for online courses varies from $25.00-$150.00 per hour.
