About the position

As a key member of our team, you will create an outstanding customer experience by embracing the Customer 1st strategy and encouraging associates to deliver excellent customer service. You will establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Your role will involve achieving sales and profit goals established for the department, while monitoring and controlling all established quality assurance standards and expenses. You will direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the department, demonstrating the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Create an outstanding customer experience by embracing the Customer 1st strategy.
  • Encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment for customers.
  • Achieve sales and profit goals for the department.
  • Monitor and control quality assurance standards and expenses.
  • Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the department.
  • Promote trust and respect among associates with a positive attitude.
  • Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
  • Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed them through teamwork.
  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
  • Train and develop associates on their job performance and participate in the performance appraisal process.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, food safety regulations, and company guidelines.
  • Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated.
  • Answer questions regarding products and make suggestions based on product knowledge.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
  • Inform customers of dairy specials and promotions.
  • Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
  • Understand the store's layout and locate products effectively.
  • Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
  • Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
  • Implement the period promotional plan for the department.
  • Assist in preparing the store/department budget and profit and loss reviews.
  • Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
  • Plan and organize the inventory process and maintain awareness of discrepancies.
  • Train associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs are kept.
  • Reinforce safety programs and comply with safety procedures.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents and safety risks.
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).

Nice-to-haves

  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Dairy experience preferred.
  • Retail experience preferred.
  • Second language (verbal, reading, and/or writing) preferred.
