As a Cybersecurity Project Engineer at NS2 Mission, you will play a pivotal role in assessing and mitigating technical risks across enterprise and mission systems, IT networks, cloud computing platforms, and mobile/wireless technologies. You will provide expert guidance to ensure systems are secure, resilient, and compliant with current and emerging standards. Your work will directly support mission-critical initiatives while keeping pace with rapidly evolving technologies.

  • Conduct comprehensive technical risk assessments and provide mitigation guidance for enterprise and mission IT systems.
  • Gather and evaluate artifacts (CONOPS, use cases, network diagrams, technical designs, SSPs) to provide a complete risk picture.
  • Identify threats and vulnerabilities, and apply systematic investigative practices to inform risk decisions.
  • Analyze system, network, and cloud configurations for misconfigurations or unnecessary components.
  • Evaluate hardware and software for vulnerabilities, origin, and currency.
  • Monitor emerging technologies to advise on potential security risks.
  • Provide actionable guidance on cyber threats, attacks, and exploitations to stakeholders.
  • Ensure risk mitigation is integrated early in development cycles and communicate security considerations clearly.
  • Organize workload efficiently and provide regular status updates on assessments and security cases.
  • Strong experience in cyber security support and technical risk assessment.
  • Proven ability to analyze IT systems, networks, and devices (firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, IDS/IPS) for vulnerabilities.
  • Skilled in IP data flow analysis, encryption configuration, and vulnerability scanning using tools such as Nmap, Wireshark, Metasploit, Canvas, Kismet, or BackTrack.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (IP, TCP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, MPLS, OSPF, IGRP, BGP, SIP, H.232).
  • Experience with multiple operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and OSX.
  • Proficiency with cloud computing technologies and hypervisors (HyperV, VMware ESX, VirtualBox).
  • Experience with cross-domain solutions, network management, storage, backup, and disaster recovery architectures.
  • Ability to create concise, well-structured written assessments.
  • Certifications required: CISSP.
  • Familiarity with IT review boards and providing recommendations on architecture and security standards.
  • Knowledge of USG and Sponsor-specific security policies, including ICD 503, FIPS, and NIST SP 800 series.
  • Certifications desired: CISM, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
