About the position
Historical Interpreters will conduct and present daily tours and programs, and facilitate activities to school groups, general public and visitors of Grapevine historic attractions, Nash Farm, Convention and Visitor's Bureau (CVB) galleries and Settlement to City museums.
Responsibilities
- Conducts pre-developed historic education activities and programs and tours that include living history and heritage skills for adults, students and families.
- Assists with historic site / museum daily operations to include opening and closing of historic sites, gift shop operation, customer service.
- Assists historic programs staff with setting up and preparing for historical education programs, classes and tours.
- Prepares workspace before and after each day for education activities.
- Ensures facility is secure and maintained before, during and following events, when applicable.
- Prepares materials for educations programs and keep an inventory of items required for activities.
- Exhibits positive customer service and hospitality toward all visitors daily.
- Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
- Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
- Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
Requirements
- Minimum age 15 years old.
- Requires effective verbal communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public and possess an outstanding customer service attitude.
- Volunteer experience at historic sites, museums, or education programs preferred.
- Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and credit check.
- Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, and functional assessment screening (Level 2).
Benefits
- Casual/Part-Time employees are scheduled to work less than 20 hours per week and are not eligible for City sponsored benefits. However, all legally mandated benefits will be extended to any part-time employee.
