About The Position

The primary area of focus for this position will be working as a cutting operator in the cutting department on the weekday shift. The associate will work throughout the department as needed to pull and spread fabric and operate all machines to cut fabric per the specifications and established operating procedures. Associate will assist and partner with co-workers to bundle and tag cut pieces for further processing to ensure the hourly and daily and weekly departmental goals and objectives of Sutter Street Manufacturing in safety, service, quality, and cost are met. The Cutting Operator (Weekday) position is responsible for practicing safe work practices and demonstrating safe work habits to the workforce and adhering to the Personal Protective Equipment standards of the company throughout the facility. The associate will adhere to the policies of Williams-Sonoma while performing any duties as assigned with a positive attitude and willing spirit to assist others in the department, facility, and the organization. Always acting with professional courtesy and the highest integrity. The associate will perform daily tasks promptly and with high standards to achieve departmental and facility production goals using documented Standard Operating Procedures by performing the assigned task safely, correctly, and quickly while demonstrating integrity and acting in a responsible and accountable manner. The associate will establish and promote hard work ethics through teamwork and collaboration with associates and departmental leadership to maximize the productivity of the departments while ensuring quality and adhering to and complying with all safety policies. The associate will communicate openly and professionally with departmental leadership to ensure issues and obstacles are addressed. The associate will perform all assigned duties of the cutting operator position per the standard operation procedures of the assigned position at a minimum rate to maintain a sufficient buffer for the sewing department to operate efficiently without gaps in production. The associate will ensure tags and tickets are correctly placed on items to ensure they are accounted for within the inventory system and follow system requirements for tracking materials.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of cutting experience in an upper-end upholstered furniture manufacturing environment.
  • Good math and reading skills.
  • Good communication skills-oral and written.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Ability to read and understand production tickets.
  • Ability to interpret simple instructions commonly placed in a standard operating procedure.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to assure delivery requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a part of a team with other associates and managers.
  • Strong sense of urgency and time management to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to stand for 12-hour periods.
  • Ability to bend and twist at waist and knees as required to load and roll furniture.
  • Will frequently need to lift and pull items that weigh 20 – 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift items that weigh up to 60 pounds.
