About the position

The Customer Service Technical Content Editor is responsible for developing and improving customer service documentation within the automotive domain. This role requires a solid understanding of US English and technical writing principles, along with hands-on experience in creating high-quality technical materials. The position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and a commitment to continuous improvement of documentation quality.

Responsibilities

  • Solid understanding of US English, including grammar and spelling.
  • Develop customer service documentation with a focus on quality and clarity.
  • Utilize style guides, particularly the Chicago Manual of Style, in documentation.
  • Provide constructive feedback to authors to enhance content quality.
  • Familiarity with the automotive or trucking industry and its terminology.
  • Knowledge of Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical terms used in the automotive or trucking industry.
  • Experience with service tools and specifications used for vehicle servicing.
  • Work within an Agile environment and adhere to Agile writing principles.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Utilize XML and DITA XML authoring using PTC Arbortext Editor.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro for document management.
  • Continuously improve the content and appearance of customer documentation.
  • Achieve expert product knowledge to produce quality materials and high-level technical solutions.
  • Develop appropriate documentation to support technical publication manuals.
  • Understand product development processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communication, or Engineering.
  • More than 2 years of experience as an Information Developer/Technical Writer.
  • Hands-on experience with customer service documentation development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with the automotive or trucking industry.
  • Experience with Agile writing principles.
  • Knowledge of Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical terms used in the automotive or trucking industry.
