About The Position

The Customer Service Applications Engineer (CSAE) will work closely with Key Account Managers and the CUS Program Supervisor on various aspects of the customer request process. This role involves reviewing customer specifications and products to develop upgrade or retrofit concepts based on standard assembly platforms, and providing product design support to enhance the assembly process. The CSAE will determine customer requirements and sales strategies in collaboration with KAMs and CSCOs, develop technical presentations, and communicate with customers during the proposal phase. They will also collaborate with internal engineering leads, write quotations, present solutions, and make sales calls with KAMs to provide technical support. After project hand-off to Operations, the CSAE will act as a consultant during the project phase and gather feedback for continuous improvement. Additionally, the role requires maintaining the Salesforce system, proposal folders, quote templates, and pricing sheets, as well as creating necessary reports. The position demands flexibility, organization, confidentiality, sound decision-making, teamwork, and strong communication and analytical skills.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering or 3-5 years’ experience in the machine building industry.
  • Knowledge of industry accepted engineering practice.
  • Computer Aided Design experience.
  • Ability to create and present a project specific presentation.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Computer skills including basic Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Project) and advanced Excel spreadsheet experience.
  • Experienced in the use of a database system for tracking customers and opportunities.
  • Ability to follow company procedures.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to travel as requested.
  • Must be available to work overtime.
  • May be required to work off shift hours and Holidays.
  • Willing and able to travel 10% of the year, including travel with little to no notice.
  • Must have a valid state Driver's license.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain a passport.
  • Must have personal credit card for expenses that may be incurred while traveling for company purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Key Account Managers and CUS Program Supervisor on all aspects of the process.
  • Review customer requests, specifications, and products to develop an upgrade or retrofit concept based on standard assembly platforms.
  • Provide customers with product design support to improve the assembly process.
  • Determine customer requirements and sales strategy with KAMs and CSCOs.
  • Develop upgraded or retrofit assembly concepts.
  • Develop AutoCAD 2D layouts and Inventor 3D models.
  • Develop sub-systems specifications and costings through direct contact with suppliers.
  • Develop detailed project cost estimates as the basis for the sales price.
  • Develop Technical PowerPoint presentations.
  • Consult and collaborate with internal engineering leads to address specific design concerns or issues to ensure correct pricing.
  • Communicate with the customer during the proposal phase.
  • Work with other CSAE or CSCO as necessary.
  • Write quotations and present your solution to customers as part of the Sales team.
  • Make sales calls with Key Account Managers to provide automation technical support in their consulting and selling efforts with customers.
  • Hand-off the project to the Operations staff at the Project Kick-off Meeting.
  • Act as a consultant to the Operations staff during the project phase while gathering feedback on quote accuracy for continuous improvement.
  • Keep Salesforce system up to date with RFQ case details.
  • Maintain proposal folders, quote templates, and pricing sheets.
  • Create reports as necessary.
