About the position

The Customer Engineer I for Small/Medium Businesses at Google Cloud is responsible for facilitating the adoption of Google Cloud products by educational institutions, government agencies, and businesses. This role involves engaging with customers to understand their technical and business needs, presenting tailored solutions, and troubleshooting technical issues related to cybersecurity. The engineer will collaborate with sales teams and internal stakeholders to enhance Google Cloud offerings and ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objections, and develop strategies to resolve technical blockers.
  • Share security knowledge to support the technical relationship with customers, including technology advocacy, supporting bid responses, product and solution briefings, and proof-of-concept work.
  • Work with Google Cloud products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer and partner environments.
  • Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure to implement complete solutions on Google Cloud.
  • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as needed, acting as a public advocate for Google Cloud.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role.
  • Experience in cybersecurity matters (e.g. threat detection, malware intelligence, cloud security posture management, Identity and Access Management systems).
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Cloud or Security industry certifications.
  • Experience implementing security solutions for enterprises (e.g. threat detection and hunting, malware intelligence, cloud security posture management, or Identity and Access Management systems).
  • Experience prospecting, and building and maintaining customer relationships from scratch, with excitement for building Greenfield territories in accounts.
  • Knowledge of product and solution market trends in the cybersecurity industry (e.g. ransomware, attack frameworks, zero trust, etc.).
