About the position

The Custodial Worker is responsible for managing, supervising, and performing custodial, maintenance, cleaning, and grounds keeping tasks to ensure that facilities are clean, safe, and presentable to the public. This full-time position requires working during the day from Monday to Friday, focusing on maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the school environment.

Responsibilities

• Cleans all areas as directed, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing bathrooms.
• Maintains the building by controlling heat and ventilation, locking and unlocking doors, and performing minor repairs.
• Maintains grounds by removing snow and ice, keeping sidewalks clean, and mowing lawns.
• Maintains floors by stripping, rewaxing, and shampooing carpets as needed.
• Supervises gym or other areas during events, checking for vandalism and setting up chairs.
• Covers for Day or Head Custodian as directed by the Director of Maintenance.
• Reports major repairs needed promptly to the Day or Head Custodian.
• Works cooperatively with co-workers, teachers, students, and administration.
• Completes assigned checklists and follows instructions and policies.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.

Requirements

• Successful experience working as a Building Custodian preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and comprehend written and oral instructions.
• Sufficient vision to inspect facilities and equipment for needed repairs.
• Manual dexterity to operate work-associated equipment and vehicles.
• Physical mobility to work in various conditions and perform skilled tasks.
