About the position

The Custodian / Laborer position at the Community College of Allegheny County is responsible for supporting the physical plant services across the college's campuses. This role involves performing general housekeeping, janitorial, grounds keeping, and maintenance duties to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of the college facilities. The position requires a commitment to quality customer service and adherence to safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality customer service to both internal and external customers.
• Perform housekeeping/janitorial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing and waxing floors, cleaning walls, vents, furniture, and restrooms.
• Conduct grounds keeping tasks such as cutting grass, planting, weeding, snow removal, and assisting in outdoor maintenance projects.
• Perform general maintenance tasks including minor repairs, cleaning equipment, and replenishing supplies.
• Set up and move furniture, equipment, and supplies; empty waste baskets and remove trash.
• Drive campus vehicles to pick up and deliver supplies and materials; assist in loading and unloading vehicles.
• Perform all duties in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math is required.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver's license is required for positions that may involve driving.
• Ability to operate cleaning and gardening equipment such as vacuums, lawn mowers, and snowplows.
• Ability to perform minor repairs and routine preventative maintenance.
• Proficiency in using basic office equipment and software.
