About the position

The job of the Teacher responsibilities includes helping students develop an awareness and appreciation of learning and academic achievement. The teacher must incorporate the responsibilities of the District Strategic Plan of preparing students for college, career, and life-ready situations, communication, and partnerships, and creating a highly effective work force. The teacher must be a relationship builder, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be well trained in content knowledge and teaching strategies including the use of primary sources and inquiry-based instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Create and deliver curriculum that maintains a positive learning climate incorporating rigor and relevance.
  • Plan, develop, and execute lesson plans and provide instruction for individual students, small groups, and remedial instruction.
  • Assess student learning using a variety of appropriate formal and informal methods.
  • Apply knowledge of best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Prepare and correct examinations, proctor, and substitute as needed.
  • Conduct customary conferences with students and parents; provide individual guidance.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current in teaching fields.
  • Provide synchronous and asynchronous remote learning instruction when directed.
  • Utilize digital applications and software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Synergy, Power Point, Nearpod, Teams, etc.
  • Participate in student study teams, 504 planning, and IEP process as needed.
  • Manage daily recording and publishing of student attendance and grading.
  • Communicate school and District programs, policies, and procedures to students, staff, parents, and community.
  • Assist in safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
  • Participate in delivery of Site testing and proctor all state and school-based assessments.
  • Participate in campus/district departmental meetings.
  • Use student data to inform decision making and develop targeted instruction.
  • Implement district adopted curricular resources.
  • Assist with the creation, completion, and presentation of school reports.
  • Determine the need for curricular materials and communicate ordering needs.

Requirements

  • Must be appropriately certified with a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate in subject area.
  • Proficiency in teacher competency standards: Design and Plans Instruction, Creates and Maintains a Learning Climate, Implements and Manages Instruction, Assesses Learning and Communicates Results, Collaborates with Colleagues, Parents, and Others, Engages in Professional Development and Responsibilities.
  • Valid AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) Identity Verified Print (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Bachelor's degree in subject area, Education, or other related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in subject area, Education, Administration, or other related field.
  • Endorsements in any related field.
  • Teaching experience in a secondary educational setting.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
