About The Position

We’re hiring a dedicated Custodian for our retirement community! Help create a clean, welcoming space for our residents. Great benefits and a rewarding role await! Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, performs routine manual tasks in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitary conditions and appearance of our facility.

Requirements

  • Has knowledge of custodial, housekeeping, laundry operations and floor care.
  • Is organized, able to multi-task, think creatively and adapt to different situations.
  • Must be able to complete training on computer and/or other devices.
  • Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests.
  • Has current and valid Fingerprint clearance card or can apply for one within 20 days of hire.
  • If above driving duties apply, has current, valid driver’s license. Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaks’ insurance carrier.
  • If applicable, has a Certificate of Completion for memory care services training or obtains within 30 days of hire and complies with annual certification requirements.
  • Is able to carry/lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
  • May need to operate a fire extinguisher.
  • Is able to assist in evacuation procedures.
  • Physical: climbing to includes legs and arms, kneeling, lifting/moving, carrying/transporting, walking/traversing or moving, standing/stationary position, bending, reaching forward and above shoulder level, pulling, pushing, fine manipulation (pen, using a mouse), gross/total manipulation (firm hand grasping, twisting), twisting, stooping
  • Cognitive: written and oral communication, work under time restraints, concentrate amid distractions, ensure accuracy of details, remember names and details, problem solve, make decisions, work rapidly, examine/observe details, analytical ability, working within minimal errors, reason (make sense of things)
  • Environmental: inside, outside, humid, toxic or caustic chemicals, high places, hot, cold, dry, wet, change of temperature, dirty, odors, fumes, loud (equipment, surroundings), near moving mechanical parts, vibration, risk of electrical shock, working with others, working around others, working alone, dusty

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably has knowledge on using iPad. Training will be provided.
  • Preferably has a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Preferably has one year of experience in custodial, housekeeping, or other related work.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans garden and assisted living homes, apartments, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing; including light upholstery cleaning.
  • Cleaning of Spa Rooms and Equipment except the inside of the Tub and that portion of the Transfer Chair inside the tub when being used.
  • Empties and decontaminates trash containers.
  • Disposes of infectious waste when necessary.
  • Replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand cleaner/soap.
  • Keeps storage areas well stocked, clean, and organized.
  • Ability to use proper/correct dilutions of cleaning agent as instructed by the manufacturer.
  • Operates wet/dry vacuum for cleaning and shampooing carpeted areas.
  • Assists on floor maintenance crew whose work involves the principal responsibility for stripping, buffing and waxing floors with industrial grade machinery.
  • Assists as needed on set-up crew with principal responsibilities for setting up tables, chairs, and other furniture for special meetings, banquets, auctions or other events.
  • Performs many varied custodial tasks related to the maintenance of the facility.
  • Performs custodial related duties required to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
  • Attends all meetings as required and assists other departments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
