About the position

The City of Salem is seeking a full-time Custodial Worker I to join its facilities organization within the Enterprise Services Department. This role is essential for maintaining a clean and safe environment for both employees and the public. The ideal candidate will work primarily during evening hours, performing various cleaning and minor maintenance tasks while ensuring safety and cleanliness in municipal facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform interior general and special cleaning duties of municipal facilities.
• Conduct sanitization of restroom fixtures and common areas.
• Handle cleaning of potentially infectious waste in public settings.
• Replace light bulbs and perform minor repairs as needed.
• Maintain external grounds, including landscaping and snow removal.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Oregon Driver's License.
• Two years of custodial experience with the ability to work independently.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of cleaning practices and light building maintenance.
• Ability to follow written and oral directions.
• Experience with custodial related equipment and supplies.
