About The Position

The Curbside Care Program Coordinator and Research Assistant is the key administrative position for Boston Medical Center’s Curbside Care for Moms and Babies Mobile Program. The Curbside Care for Moms and Babies Program at BMC is a novel health care delivery platform which provides comprehensive high-touch, prenatal and post-partum care to women and infants on a mobile unit outside of their home, parked "on the curb". The program is a collaborative program between the departments of Pediatrics and Midwifery (within the OBGYN department) which aims to increase access to maternal and infant care for BMC patients in the City of Boston. The Program Coordinator/Research Assistant manages all day to day operations of the program in addition to maintaining data related to outcomes necessary for sustainable programming.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (HS Diploma or GED required)
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a medical or research setting.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise excellent judgment
  • Superior written and oral English language skills (Spanish and/or Haitian Creole language skills preferred)
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a team member in multicultural settings
  • Able to maintain professional boundaries
  • Ability to work with diverse, safety-net population
  • Skilled at engaging difficult to engage patients—build rapport, trust
  • Ability to adapt to changes in healthcare delivery at local and systems level
  • Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of racial and ethnic populations.
  • Bicultural/Bilingual competency a plus.
  • Computer literacy with ability to use standard word processing, spreadsheet programs and e-mail (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Outlook) and web browsers.
  • Experience with IRB process and EPIC preferred

  • Experience as research assistant or program coordinator preferred, but not necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the medical director in the design of performance objectives and implements and monitors programming to meet desired outcomes
  • Schedules patients for visits
  • Takes inventory and orders supplies
  • Maintains, monitors, and assembles equipment each day ensuring the unit is appropriately stocked
  • Liaises with Facilities, Compliance, and Operations teams and ensures compliance measures are met
  • Cross-checks the data on the temperature logger, downloads its data, and sends it to Compliance
  • Manages the master schedule for providers across both departments and the driver
  • Creates and distributes the mapping for mobile health visits to appropriate providers and navigators, ensuring that visits are scheduled in a geographically efficient way
  • Works with the grant office to process payments
  • Build reports for on-going data collection related to program and outcome measures
  • Communicates directly with the medical and midwifery director regarding any observable trends
  • Distributes data monthly to appropriate stakeholders
  • Assists with the development of slide decks for presentations
  • Assists with the preparation of IRB applications
  • Recruits and evaluates patients for eligibility in research studies
  • Conducts phone interviews/focus groups
  • Collects and organizes patient/program data and maintains records and databases
  • Sends mailings/texts when appropriate
