About the position

The Culinary Assistant at Dreaming Out Loud Inc. plays a vital role in supporting the Food Hub's operations, which include weekly farmers' markets and grocery logistics. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about social justice and food equity, and who enjoy engaging with diverse community members. The role involves both customer service and behind-the-scenes logistical tasks, ensuring that food distribution runs smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Markets & CSA coordinator in running weekly farmers' markets.
• Operate logistics for Dreaming Out Loud Grocery.
• Track packing deadlines and monitor contingencies.
• Pack and fulfill all orders weekly according to SOPs and food safety requirements.
• Keep track of supplies and inventory.
• Support outreach and marketing efforts for DOL Grocery.
• Check quality control, portioning, and packing of products.
• Ensure timely delivery of products to customers.
• Process payment transactions via POS system accurately.
• Create and send out weekly market communications via print, text, and email.
• Set up and break down market tents, tables, and products with outstanding customer service.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of relevant experience in food service or customer service.
• Strong commitment to social justice and the organization's mission.
• Excellent organization and planning skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to collaborate with a team and maintain open communication.
• Proficiency in Google Suite and communication apps like Slack and Canva.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Clean driving record and active license.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with small business operations.
• Familiarity with navigation apps like Google Maps.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.
