About the position

The CTAAE Technician at Bowling Green State University is responsible for the operation and maintenance of college academic equipment, supporting instructional activities, ensuring laboratory safety and cleanliness, and managing college inventories. This role involves collaborating with faculty, conducting training, and maintaining compliance with safety protocols while optimizing the functionality of laboratory settings.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain college academic equipment.
  • Install and test new equipment purchased by the college.
  • Schedule training sessions and manufacturer maintenance for lab equipment and maintain accurate records.
  • Oversee daily operations of various lab equipment including CNC machines, lathes, and 3D printers.
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks and calibrations on all lab equipment.
  • Collaborate with faculty to collect a list of required course materials before each semester.
  • Order necessary supplies for faculty members in a timely manner.
  • Assist faculty and graduate students in using relevant equipment for their courses.
  • Provide training for faculty, students, and staff on the safe use of machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab environment.
  • Ensure proper disposal of lab waste according to EHS guidelines.
  • Regularly update the ChemWatch website with chemicals used in the labs.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections of labs and equipment.
  • Maintain detailed logs of equipment maintenance and inventory management.
  • Conduct guided tours of the labs for prospective students and families.
  • Engage with university committees to coordinate event planning and logistics.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required at the time of application.
  • 1 year of experience in industry working with equipment in an engineering-related field, or 1 year of experience working in a laboratory supporting academic research or classes.
