The CT Technologist performs procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards, operating CT Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency. This includes scanner, post-processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport, and patient monitoring equipment. The role involves examining requests, verifying orders, identifying patients, preparing them for procedures, and documenting medical history. The technologist administers IV contrast, evaluates image quality, recognizes abnormal anatomy, performs basic patient care, and initiates life support measures when necessary. They also assist during invasive procedures, practice sterile technique, adhere to radiation safety principles, and maintain knowledge of bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases. The position requires operating the radiology computer system, documenting contrast administration, and maintaining a neat, stocked, and clean work area. Assistance may be provided to other medical personnel during exams or services in conjunction with a CT scan. The role also includes rotating shifts, call back, holidays, and weekends, and adhering to the attendance policy.
