Requirements

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in safety, security, emergency response, social services, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in crisis intervention, conflict de-escalation, or community safety work.
  • Experience supervising staff in a 24/7 or shift-based environment preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and high-pressure situations calmly and effectively.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, behavioral health challenges, or substance use preferred.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • CPR/First Aid certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • Crisis Prevention / De-escalation training required within 3 months of hire.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data systems.
  • Commitment to St. Anthony Foundation Statement of Values and a desire to work for a social services agency serving the poor.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise CSS Assistant Manager, Supervisors, and frontline Community Safety staff.
  • Responsible for hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, coaching, performance management, and discipline of staff.
  • Provide ongoing staff training in de-escalation, trauma-informed care, documentation, and safety procedures.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings, training, and team communication.
  • Ensure staff demonstrate professionalism, strong customer service, and respectful interactions with all guests and staff.
  • Review incident reports, documentation, and staff performance regularly.
  • Role model and set the expectation that staff treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
  • Oversee and assist staff with accurate and timely reporting and documentation, including 86 reports, incident reports, guest complaints, and follow-ups.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for staff, guests, volunteers, and visitors across St. Anthony facilities and surrounding areas.
  • Oversee daily CSS operations including staffing coverage, patrols, incident response, and building security checks.
  • Ensure immediate, accurate reporting and documentation of safety incidents, emergencies, and daily activity logs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures for safety, crisis response, and emergency situations.
  • Coordinate emergency response procedures including evacuations, medical emergencies, and crisis intervention.
  • Maintain and oversee safety equipment, radios, supplies, and program inventory.
  • Assist in foundation-wide safety planning, fire safety, and emergency preparedness.
  • Ensure all safety procedures follow trauma-informed and non-violent crisis intervention practices.
  • Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and calm leadership in high-pressure situations.
  • Treat all guests, staff, and community members with dignity, empathy, and respect.
  • Practice direct, respectful, and clear communication.
  • Support St. Anthony Foundation’s mission, values, and Franciscan identity.
  • Comply with all St. Anthony safety policies and workplace requirements.
  • Develop staff schedules and ensure appropriate coverage across all locations and shifts.
  • Oversee payroll approval, timekeeping, overtime monitoring, and staffing levels.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring the program budget and expenses.
  • Maintain program policies and procedures and ensure documentation systems are accurate and timely.
  • Investigate and respond to safety incidents, staff incidents, and guest complaints.
  • Maintain program data and reporting systems.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of CSS services and recommend improvements to operations and service delivery.
  • Work closely with Program Managers to enforce safety procedures across all St. Anthony programs.
  • Serve as liaison with local community groups, neighboring organizations, and public safety partners.
  • Advise internal departments on safety procedures and crisis response practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff across the organization on safety protocols and de-escalation practices.
  • Maintain communication systems and incident communication across departments.
