About the position

The Banking Customer Service Representative at Fifth Third Bank is responsible for providing exceptional customer service during daily transactions, addressing customer inquiries, and resolving problems in line with bank policies. This role involves building rapport with customers, promoting good relations, and meeting sales referral goals while ensuring customer confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Develop rapport with the customer base and greet them by name.
  • Be responsive and timely with correspondence and problem resolutions.
  • Process credit card applications and display a caring attitude.
  • Handle cash and process customer transactions.
  • Initiate conversations with customers to uncover their needs and refer them to appropriate business partners.
  • Maintain a balancing record, find and correct errors, and seek help as needed.
  • Handle customer issues professionally and direct complex issues to management staff.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial center policies, procedures, products, and services.
  • Perform daily office responsibilities alongside other staff members to maintain efficient operation of the financial center.

Requirements

  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact confidently and comfortably with the public.
  • Initiative and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Ability to work positively and cooperatively with a team.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Banking, Retail, Sales, or a role involving cash handling and customer service.
  • High school education or equivalent experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of banking retail policies and procedures.
  • Advanced math abilities.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for most of the shift.
