About the position

The Critical Environment Technician Manager at Microsoft plays a vital role in managing the core infrastructure and foundational technologies that support Microsoft's cloud services. This position is responsible for overseeing the operations and maintenance of critical environment systems within data centers, ensuring safety, efficiency, and reliability. The role emphasizes people management, technical expertise, and adherence to safety protocols while fostering a culture of inclusion and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring for team members.
  • Oversee and perform complex tasks related to equipment and systems operations, ensuring safe and professional operation.
  • Conduct inspections and supervision of critical environment-related facility equipment to identify unsafe or abnormal conditions.
  • Monitor performance of equipment and systems from central locations, analyzing trends and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Lead incident response teams during abnormal conditions, coordinating corrective repairs and communicating with leadership.
  • Guide and coach team members on maintenance and repair activities, ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards.
  • Develop and follow emergency operating procedures and standard operating procedures for incident management.
  • Participate in testing and commissioning activities, advising on project scope and execution methodology.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND 3+ years of experience in mission-critical services or related fields.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud background check.

Nice-to-haves

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND 6+ years of mission-critical services experience.
  • 1+ year of people management experience.
  • 1+ year of experience in a specialized area such as mechanical, electrical, or controls.
