About the position

The Critical Care Technician (CCT) is a certified and/or licensed technician who plays a vital role in the Intensive Care Department's patient care team. The CCT works collaboratively with nursing staff, performing a variety of RN delegated tasks under supervision. This position is essential for maintaining a safe and organized patient environment while assisting with patient care and clerical duties.

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with admission, transfer, and discharges of patients as required.
• Observes patient's condition, recognizes changes in patient status, and reports findings to the RN.
• Cleans, procures, and returns equipment and supplies.
• Operates patient monitoring equipment and records data under the direction of the RN.
• Assists with ordering and maintaining stock items.
• Charts in electronic Health Record as appropriate.
• Maintains competency to perform special procedures such as Foley catheter insertion and removal, venipuncture, and vital sign recordings.
• Obtains and documents vital signs and provides patient hygiene.
• Maintains clear and respectful communications with patients, families, and the health care team.
• Adapts patient assessment and care methods to accommodate unique needs of each patient served.
• Processes the transcription of orders for the patient plan of care accurately and timely.
• Obtains diagnostic test results and provides them to nursing staff.
• Performs quality assurance on charts to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Responds timely to staff, patient, and visitor requests.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in hospital patient care or an acute-care setting preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• Current certification in one of the following: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Patient Care Tech (PCT), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic.
