About The Position

This is a full-time position in the Bureau of Offender Registry Services, reporting to the Offender Registration & Data Management Section. The role involves reviewing large amounts of sexual offender/predator registration information to determine its significance, completeness, reliability, and usefulness. It also includes updating and maintaining Offender Registry Services (ORS) case information in databases, reviewing registration information and documentation for potential privacy and civil rights concerns, conducting research for policy and statute changes, and requesting updates to the criminal history repository. The position requires preparing memoranda, procedural manuals, and other unit documentation, maintaining liaison with various criminal justice and non-criminal justice agencies, and preparing reports based on research.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of law enforcement and the criminal justice system;
  • Knowledge of law enforcement telecommunications systems;
  • Knowledge of report writing techniques;
  • Knowledge of research and intelligence analysis techniques;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
  • Ability to report and communicate information clearly;
  • Ability to determine work priorities and proper completion of assignments;
  • Ability to operate personal computers and networked communications systems;
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize criminal intelligence data.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing large amounts of sexual offender/predator registration information and determining the significance, completeness, reliability, and usefulness of the information;
  • Updating and maintaining Offender Registry Services (ORS) case information in the appropriate databases as needed for others to prepare reports and assessments regarding ORS cases;
  • Reviewing sexual offender/predator registration information, confidential arrest and court documentation for potential privacy, confidentiality, civil rights, and civil liberty-related concerns;
  • Conducting research on requests received by the unit to determine recommendations for possible procedure, policy, and statute changes based on case precedence;
  • Requesting and receiving information to request updates to the criminal history repository;
  • Preparing memoranda, procedural manuals, and other unit documentation based on experience;
  • Maintaining liaison with local, state, and federal criminal justice agencies, other criminal justice agencies outside the State of Florida, non-criminal justice agencies, and the public by analyzing, interpreting, and resolving complex requests, concerns, or issues regarding sexual offender/predator information and statutes;
  • Preparing reports and summaries based on research and present findings to chain of command.
