About the position
This is a Canine Handler position in the North Region and is based out of Coweta County, Georgia. The selected applicant must reside 50 miles or less from Coweta County, Georgia. Preference will be given to applicants whose full-time experience as a uniformed officer in a correctional setting was obtained with the Georgia Department of Corrections. Applicants that do not have a PBLE certification will be required to pass a Physical Agility Test.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Basic Law Enforcement Certification with one-year experience in handling or training working canines in the law enforcement field.
- One year of experience caring for dogs and training dogs to perform such functions as detecting controlled substances, attacking, or tracking in a correctional, military, law enforcement or other setting.
- Completion of Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT) Certification.
Nice-to-haves
- Full-time experience as a uniformed officer in a correctional setting with the Georgia Department of Corrections.
