About the position

The Crew Member - Finishing position involves working in the Finishing department to ensure the quality of castings by performing chipping and grinding tasks. The role requires attention to detail to meet customer specifications and involves physical labor in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand blueprints and spec sheets.
• Perform chipping and grinding of molds to customer specifications, including removing excess iron and cleaning grooves.
• Maintain all tools including chisels, hoses, guns, and grinding wheels, returning them to proper storage.
• Sand blast molds, clean, and perform minor repairs.
• Keep work area clean and clutter-free.
• Adhere to all housekeeping and safety standards, including the required use of personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to perform work of a semi-repetitive nature using 7 to 8 lb. chipping guns.
• Ability to read drawings and withstand prolonged periods of standing, bending, and heavy lifting.
• Must be able to pass physical requirements.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and mandatory overtime.
• Ability to train and receive certification on Crane.
• Ability to withstand extreme temperatures.
• Ability to lift 30 - 60 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or foundry environment.
• Ability to read blueprints, customer specification sheets, and tape measures.
• Certified with operating mobile equipment or overhead crane.
