About the position

The CPI Investigative Supervisor I/II is responsible for overseeing a unit of caseworkers conducting investigations and alternative response cases within the Child Protective Investigations (CPI) Division. This senior-level position involves managing staff, providing case consultations, monitoring case statuses, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures related to child safety. The supervisor plays a critical role in decision-making that affects the protection of children and collaborates with various stakeholders to enhance service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage administrative staff and a unit of caseworkers conducting investigations and alternative response cases.
  • Provide case consultations and monitor the status of cases using data warehouse reports to identify trends and patterns related to risk and child safety.
  • Select, hire, manage, and develop staff through performance reviews, individual conferences, and field visits.
  • Ensure timely contact is made on all cases and assess child safety throughout the investigation process.
  • Implement program guidelines and conduct unit meetings to discuss productivity and quality of work.
  • Evaluate unit performance through case readings and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Consult with unit staff and interpret program policy and procedures to various stakeholders.
  • Represent the program at meetings, conferences, and other events.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 2 years of full-time experience in Child Protective Services or child placement services in a public social services agency.
  • Completion of Phase I Child Protective Services Specialist Certification for Supervisor II position.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and use various software packages.
