About the position

The CPI Investigative Supervisor I/II at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is responsible for overseeing a unit of caseworkers conducting investigations and alternative response cases. This senior-level position involves managing staff, providing technical assistance, and ensuring compliance with policies related to child safety and risk assessment. The supervisor plays a critical role in decision-making that affects the protection of children and collaborates with various stakeholders to enhance service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage administrative staff and a unit of caseworkers conducting investigations and alternative response cases.
  • Provide case consultations and monitor the status of cases using data warehouse reports to identify trends and patterns.
  • Select, hire, manage, and develop staff through performance reviews, individual conferences, and field visits.
  • Ensure productivity and compliance with policy, procedure, and service control requirements.
  • Provide consultative services and technical assistance to design and implement solutions for child safety issues.
  • Consult with area Program Director and other stakeholders on complex and sensitive CPI cases.
  • Oversee unit operations in accordance with the Child Protective Services Handbook and Texas Family Code.
  • Conduct unit meetings and implement program guidelines.

Requirements

  • Experience in child protective services or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends related to child safety.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Texas Family Code and child protective services policies.
