The Superior Court of Los Angeles County is on the lookout for enthusiastic and detail-oriented individuals to join us as Court Services Assistant I the entry-level role in our Court Services series. As a Court Services Assistant I, you’ll be at the heart of court operations, gaining hands-on experience while learning the ins and outs of court procedures. From assisting the public at the counter and over the phone, to managing mail, data entry, and records retrieval, your work will support the smooth functioning of our justice system. Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • One (1) year working in a business environment, including general administrative, clerical, and/or retail experience, providing customer service, cash handling, and utilizing basic computer skills
  • United States citizenship
  • Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a prorate basis (e.g., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience). Overtime does not count toward additional credit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service at the public counter and by phone; explain court procedures, filing processes, fees, and scheduling.
  • Accept and process payments for court services, issue receipts and update records.
  • Retrieve, prepare, and deliver court files and documents; verify document accuracy and completeness.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and photocopying; assist with large mailings.
  • Enter and update case data in court systems; generate reports and maintain spreadsheets.
  • Organize and maintain office records and files; manage file storage, retrieval, and destruction.
  • Deliver documents between courtrooms and departments.
  • Order, receive, and distribute office supplies and forms; assist with stockroom maintenance.
